Chief Tim & Chief (Mrs) Kemi Bolade 22nd May 2020

Tribute to a friend, brother, and doctor, Segun George It is still like a bad dream and it’d surely take a very long time for me, my wife and the entire family to come to terms with the reality of your sudden departure from this sinful world. When on the 27th April 2020, we got from you from your isolation bed a video call in which you were only able to waive to us, little did we know that you were bidding us bye. We continued praying for your recovery only for the news of your transition to be broken to us in the early hours of Tuesday, 19th May 2020. Your death has created a very big vacuum in our family and it’s not certain if that gap could ever be filled except by God Himself. Our relationship dates back to the early 80s as patient-doctor but it didn’t take any longer to metamorphosise to one of very close friendship. As a doctor, you were wonderfully dedicated and committed to serving humanity generally and as a friend, you were a mentor, a counselor and a source of joy and blessings to us. You were indeed a rare gem, a distinguished professional and a selfless medical practitioner. All but one of our children went through you from pregnancy to birth and till your exit, all of them independently, with their individual families, adopted you as their medical doctor. As if to further cement the relationship, one of our sons, delivered in your clinic actually shared with you a common birthday of 3rd August. We had a tradition of celebrating you together on each birthday anniversary but now that is not to be anymore ! You didn’t work for pecuniary gains; rather you worked tirelessly to serve humanity. My wife ( your ‘Akemo’, as you fondly called her) has been in flowing tears as she, like all of us in my family, never knew or had any other doctor. Who will fill the wide gap? Which doctor would have the patience and forbearance to be called any time, anywhere, anyhow and would respond with warmth and love. We remember how you graciously accepted to be the Chairman at my 60th birthday reception party in far away Abeokuta in-spite of your ever tight schedule. Well, who are we to question the action of God? We take solace in the strong knowledge that you are resting peacefully in the bossom of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. We cannot but remember your wife, children, grandchildren, your elder brother, your other siblings, and most profoundly your aged mother. We pray that the good Lord consoles and comforts them all. For you, we wish you eternal rest in the mighty name of Jesus. Audie, our energetic and quintessential friend, brother, and doctor.
