Tribute to the memory of a great man: Dr. Dennis Olusegun George

Created by Bola 3 years ago

Who can find a man like Dennis Olusegun George? His price is far above diamonds.

My first meeting with Dr. George was at the wedding of my nephew in-law, Dr. Gbenga Adenuga-Taiwo to his niece on 2 Febfuary 1991. He stood out as a person who impacted positively to the life of the bride and he stayed puf with the Adenuga-Taiwo family, not only as in-law, but as a friend, confidant and physician. He took persona care of Uncle, Sir Adenuga-Taiwo toll he passed on to glory.

Dr. George also stood out as father figure at the wedding of my nephew, Mr. Yomi Olomodosi, who married his niece on 1 November 1997. Remi has always had wonderful stories to tell us about her uncle, with whom she lived and who eventually carried her in his car on her wedding day and later, took delivery of her first baby, now 21years old.

Dr. George had a large heart and was so blessed to have married a damsel with an equally large heart. They both took in their nieces and nephews to live in their home, brought them up with their own children, inculcating Christian principles and hard work in them. Their home was like a boarding house because as one set moved out to start their own lives, another set of children moved in. Any where we met, he always called me "my in-law" and greeted me with a big smile and such great respect..

We mey again in year 2007 when we got to know about a liquid dietary supplement  called Noni, which when taken by mouth,  did miraculous healing in the bodies of the drinkers. He was sp passionate about the supplement that he gave testimonies of the positive changes in his health, hence introduced it to his many patients and thousands of people in and outside Nigeroa. His patients, he said were released of their symptoms, especially, those with arthritis, asthma and sicklers. What I found interesting was that he did not mind losing money as patients stopped attending their clinics,  but were hale and hearty drinking Noni Juice. Our interactions as STARTEAM members gave me the opportunity to know him more with his Stirling and unparalleled qualities. He was very humble, approachable, ready and willing to help, selfless and sacrificial in nature.

He was father, mentor, adviser, counsellor and belper to his staff in his private hospital and to thousands of young people who came his way. He was kind, compassionate, caring and empathetic to his patients.

The last time I saw Dr. Georgd was at the wedding of Dr. Olumide Akinsola on 19 October 2019, looking his usual smiling, cheerful, happy self.

Dr. George fought a good fight and died the death of a righteous man. Isaiah 57:1b says "Faithful and devout men are taken away, when no one considers that the righteous is taken away from evil".

He will be sorely missed. May his soul rest in perfect peace and may the Lord comfort his aged mother, family, friends, his STARTEAM family and the Church of God in Jesus Name. Amen.
